Biofilm-related infections in orthopedic and trauma surgery. International collaborative projects ahead – December 13th-14th, 2013

On December 13th and 14th, 2013 the International Scientific Meeting has been held at the Hub Hotel in Milan.

International Scientific Meeting December 13th and 14th, 2013

This meeting was the first international meeting concerning the preliminary data related to WP1 (Prototypes development and laboratory testing), WP2 (Post prototype laboratory testing), WP5 (Management) and WP6 (Dissemination and exploitation).

The meeting was organized with a wide view of the real situation, from the problem of implant-related infections in orthopaedics to the Project IDAC data. It was structured in 6 sessions: Impact of implant-related infections (1); Understanding biofilm-related infections in orthopaedics (2); Biofilm as a problem – Biofilm as a target (3); Current treatment of implant-related infections: an overview (4); From passive to active biomaterials. IDAC and anti-bacterial coatings (5); Round Table: An international network for biofilm-related infections (6).

It showed an interesting and scientific example of promoting the dissemination of the achieved project results. [PROGRAM]
